2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lee completed the 2015 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 6A region seven, the Generals earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Lee's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Homewood by a score of 49-14. The Generals improved in 2015 with their first winning season since 2011. The Generals won as many games as in any season since 2005. It marked the first time since the 2005 season that the Generals qualified for the playoffs. The Generals last playoff victory came during the 2005 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The Generals hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Woods saw improvement as they won six games following a 1-9 record in 2014. Since 2010, Lee has gone a combined 20-41. Their 33.0% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 5A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Lee has managed to compile a record of 103-159. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 5A and 291st in the AHSAA. The Generals are led by head coach Tony Woods who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 6-5 record in his first season at Lee. The Generals saw improvement from a 1-9 record the season before coach Woods arrived. Under his direction the Generals have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Woods. Coach Woods' overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 6-5 (54.5%). The Lee Generals will play in Class 5A region eight during the 2016 season. The Generals may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 6A to 5A. They will compete in region eight this year. The Generals will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region eight this season. The Generals open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Grissom on Friday, August 26 at Milton Frank Stadium.
